How we designed a hybrid user interface for live TV EPG and On Demand ‘Over The Top’ TV content for the BBC

Brief:

The project was a partnership between IBM and BBC. The technical solution was to be provided by IBM; BBC was the ultimate client.

BBC wanted to explore ‘Over The Top TV’, aggregating free IPTV On Demand content from multiple content providers like iPlayer, Joost, YouTube, and 4OD.

What we did:

We designed a hybrid user interface which featured live TV EPG and On Demand ‘Over The Top’ TV content.

An in-depth user centric IA design phase established usability issues and enabled us to explore appropriate design and navigation solutions.

Outcome:

We produced a proof of concept in the form of an interactive Flash walkthrough presentation featuring full animation and video.
